Glucydur Balance
Glucydur is an alloy of beryllium and bronze (aka beryllium copper aka BeCu or CuBe on the periodic table of elements) used for balance wheels. The alloy is known for its resistance to thermal expansion, non-magnetic properties and resistance to corrosion. While Glucydur is a trade name for the material used to make balance wheels, it does not necessarily refer to the design of the balance wheel. The name “Glucydur” is a trademark owned by Nivarox-FAR S.A. as of 1977, and is currently represented by the Swatch Group AG in Switzerland. The name “Glucydur” does not appear to be trademarked in USA.
