The Chronode caliber C102 is a basic 3-hand automatic watch movement with a calendar complication. It is claimed to be 100% Swiss made. Chronode was founded by Jean-Francois Mojon.

The cal. C102 is a base movement for Chronde’s variety of modular complications, therefore, you may see some watch brands and publications incorrectly list their caliber as C102, when in fact it may be a variation caliber with C102 as the base.

Seconds Hand Location:

Chronode offers the C102 with a central seconds hand or an offset small seconds hand (positioned 8mm from the center). It is unfortunate that Chronode is creating potential caliber confusion with these two configurations sharing the same caliber number. Hopefully they will reconsider this and make the central seconds hand and the small seconds version a different number.

Both of the images below are from Chronode’s official documentation about the calibre C102. These should be two different calibers imho.

Replacement Prices:

Chronode is one of the rare movement makers that is transparent about their pricing structure, outlined directly on their site. The prices for ordering raw C102 movements are tiered based on quantity, with 10 pieces being the MOQ (minimum order quantity).

  • 10 pieces – CHF 1,275 (about $1,450 USD) each
  • 100 pieces – CHF 990 (about $1,130 USD) each
  • 1,000 pieces – CHF 840 (about $960 USD) each

Chronode is also capable of per-assembly, complete assembly, and casing up watches for brands.

Manufacturer’s Warranty:

When buying wholesale, each movement is guaranteed for 5 years. This makes it easier for smaller independent watch brands to offer warranties on their watches since the movements are covered.

In Chronode’s own words:

“We are committed to the after-sales service of the products that leave our workshops, including the work and the spare parts in stock. This of course means that every version of the product, movement or watch must be documented. We can thus ensure the full traceability of technical and logistical data, whether for a series of several thousands of units or for a unique piece. We undertake staff training to maintain the skills and knowledge linked to the product for future after-sales service.” –Source
