The Oris caliber 733 is an automatic movement with 26 jewels and a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 beats per hour).

In the brand’s own words:

“Centre hands for hours, minutes and seconds, date window, instantaneous date, date corrector, fine timing device and stop-second.” –Source

Base Caliber:

Oris 733 is basically a Sellita caliber SW200-1 with a custom rotor.

The rotor features a red upper piece with the following text: “SWISS MADE / ORIS / HIGH MECH”.

What grade is it?

Oris is transparent about using the standard grade for the 733 (source).

Typically, the standard grade Sw200-1 has a Novodiac anti-shock device, however, it appears that Oris orders the base movements for the 733 with Incabloc chock absorbers.

Accuracy:

According to Oris, watches with the 733 can expect timekeeping to be within +7 to -12 seconds per day – resulting in an average accuracy of -5 to +19 seconds (source).

Oris 733 VS 733-1:

At the time of this post, the Oris catalog features watches with both the cal. 733 and 733-1.

Both are based on the SW200-1, both have the same dimensions (25.6mm) and jewel count (26). The main difference is the power reserve quoted by Oris:

  • 733 – 38 hours
  • 733-1 – 41 hours

Caliber Corner has reached out to Oris for more information about these two calibers and will update this post accordingly.

Update 12/30/24: As suspected, the “-1” in the 733-1 is there to correspond with Sellita’s move to the updated quote of 41 hours power reserve for the SW200-1.

Examples of watches with this calibre:

The 733/733-1 is used in a wide array of Oris watches.

The movement pictured below was found in an Oris Aquis Date dive watch:

I’m somewhat confused. I bought an automatic ORIS Diver 200m WP, Ref. B-7401, in the early 1980’s, simply because I thought it was gorgeous. I presume that it has the ORIS caliber 733 inside, since the prod. nr. starts with “01 733…etc.” and usually ORIS lists the cal. nr. second in row, I think. However, on the dial it says “25 Jewels”, not 26. Also, the date-window is at 3, not 6 o’clock. It has a stunning ORIS stainless steel link-bracelet that can be lengthened simply by an extra folding link within the clasp, so the watch can also fit… Read more »

I really like the 26 Jewel caliber or more. The more the merrier.

I have a customer with the Oris Williams F1 Team Skeleton, movement 733 with 26 jewels, caseback 7560 (I believe their reference is then 733-7560-4114) – but unfortunately, they have managed to break off the stem flush in the crown. I’ve contacted Oris about possibly purchasing a crown and stem, but am at the same time looking into other avenues. Does anyone have the Oris part numbers used, and/or cross-referencing on which other models used the same crown and stem? The owner acquired an Oris crown and tube, but I fear they are a little too different. Thank you for… Read more »

I now have several watches with the SW200-1. So far so good, but I haven’t owned them all that long. I just purchased an Oris Aquis new and got a great deal. But I’m a bit tired of this movement being in most of the watches I find interesting. This will be my last…

With this very basic caliber Oris states that it’s excellent chronometer and asks for 2300 euros for an aquis date. Just hilarious
