Here we have an Omega Seamaster 300M GMT Chronometer with a very special “50 Years” caseback. Powered by an Omega caliber 1128 automatic GMT movement with an anti-magnetic iron shield between the movement and the caseback. This movement has a “true” GMT complication, meaning that the hour hand can be set independently while you jump over timezones. This is the more desirable ref: 2234.50 with the more robust double push-button fold-over clasp and diver’s wetsuit extension (like on some Speedmaster or SMP models). The original 2534.50 had the single button foldover clasp with a gold Omega logo (such as the clasp found on some early Bond or Aqua Terra Seamasters). This is the configuration you want.

Detailed Specs:

  • Reference: 2234.50.00 (168.1613/368.1613)
  • Movement: Automatic, Swiss made
  • Caliber: Omega 1128
  • Case Material: Stainless steel
  • Diameter: 41mm
  • Thickness: 13mm
  • Lug-to-Lug: 46mm
  • Weight: 153 grams / 5.4 ounces (as sized)
  • Dial: Black wave dial
  • Bi-directional rotating bezel with 24 hr markers and aluminum black/silver insert with day/night indication
  • Crystal: Domed scratch-resistant sapphire
  • Band: Stainless steel bracelet, half link included
  • Buckle: Omega foldover dive buckle with wetsuit extension
  • Lug-Width: 20mm
  • Crown: Screw-down style with Omega logo
  • Solid caseback with Seamaster seahorse (seamonster) emblem and “50 Years” text
  • Water Resistant up to 300m/1,000ft
  • Retail Price: NA, discontinued

Includes: Watch, 2 extra links that were removed by the previous owner. No box, no papers.

Condition: Excellent overall. There are some signs of wear on the bezel (mostly around 15 and 12), but other than that, this watch is very clean for its age. The crystal is excellent with the exception of a small mark around 4 and 5 – it is very small, on the surface, likely on the coating and cannot be felt with your thumbnail. The crown screws in and out smoothly, the GMT hand, independent hour hand, time and date all set as they should. The bezel is easy to manipulate and clicks as it should. These are all small cosmetic blemishes that most dealers would not bother mentioning – if they were even aware of them at all. The bracelet was sized  to fit about a 7″ wrist with 2 extra links included. If you need more links, the bracelet is number 1610/930.
