The Soprod caliber P024 is a Swiss made automatic movement that is based on the ETA caliber 2824-2. Soprod, a division of the Festina Group, updated official cal. P024 documentation as recently as 7/13/2020.

Although this movement can be found with marketing on it, including the words “Invention 2020”, the calibre P024 is not currently featured as part of the Soprod catalog (it’s also not an invention since it is based on the 2824-2). Interestingly, 2020 is also the year that the company announced their Newton movement – which is also not listed on their site. This doesn’t mean it isn’t available, if you contact Soprod, it may be possible to order P024 movements for your project.

P024 or PO24?

You may see this caliber incorrectly spelled as PO24 (letter O) instead of P024 (number zero) by watch brands and blogs. The correct spelling is with the number zero: P024. The full reference or part number for is P024-10000-001-101.

How Swiss?

In Soprod’s own words:

“Soprod produces its Swiss Made movements and components at its own sites in Reussilles, Le Sentier, Maîche, Muriaux, Saignelégier and Sion. Thus we guarantee the complete control of work of our production.” -Soprod

This doesn’t indicate how much of the movement is Swiss. Is it 100% Swiss? Is it produced (assembled) in Switzerland with Swiss and foreign components? If you have any insight into the, please comment below.

Replacement Prices:

At the time of this post, replacement prices for the P024 were found online retailing for $175.00 USD. Given that there are brand new watches with this movement with retail prices below $1,000 (as low as $775), it’s likely that the price per unit is dramatically lower when ordering wholesale directly from Soprod.

This has to be dependent from the grade but I can´t find any info about that. E.g. what grade Nivada uses with their Soprod movements. Any idea?

Besides, the specsheet provided above states 12sec/day on its last page. So I don´t quite get it.

considering it is regulated efficiently, +/- 7 seconds is possible

Just got info from Nivada: They use the standard grade with Incabloc. The standard implies an accuracy of 12seconds.
