Peseux Caliber 7040

The Peseux caliber 7040 was introduced in the late 1960s. It was in production until about 1982. The example shown in the photo above is from a Girard Parregaux.

Variants:

There are other variations of the caliber 7040 which include a date (caliber 7046) and a day/date (caliber 7057). This movement has a very thin height of only 3.1mm, allowing it to be used in many dress watches and skeleton dial timepieces.

History:

Peseux is named after the Neuchâtel, Switzerland town in which the factory was based. This small municipality has a population of about 6,000 people. Pesaux is no long operating as Peseux, the company was aquired by ETA in 1985 and their production was moved to Genchen. The caliber 7040 is still being manufactured by ETA under the caliber number 7001 (used by Nomos for example).
