The Sunon caliber PE50 is a quartz chronograph watch movement with a 24 hour indicator and a date.
The PE50 appears to be a discontinued movement. This is unconfirmed, but notable that at the time of this post, it is no longer listed in Sunon’s official catalog. This does not mean movements are not available, as a cheap and mass produced movement, there were likely a lot of them made.
Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
Watches with this Movement:
The PE50 is commonly found in replica Moonswatch watches.
We don’t give attention to such watches on this site, but it’s worth noting that most of the PE50 examples out in the wild have a removable caseback, whereas the genuine Moonswatch does not have a removable caseback, but instead has a removable cover over the battery.
The obvious explanation for this is that the PE50 battery tray does not line up with where the battery would be on the authentic Moonswatch movement.
Resetting the Chronograph to Zero:
If the central chronograph seconds and the 60 minutes chronograph hands on your PE50 powered watch are no longer lining up at zero, you may be able to recalibrate them with the following sequence:
- Pull the crown out two clicks to time-setting mode.
- Push the top chronograph button to advance the central chronograph hand until it lines up where you want it.
- Push the bottom button until the 60 minute hand lines up.
- Press the crown back in.
Note: If you recalibrate the hands using the method above and they still do not stay lined up, there is a chance that the hands or the gearing has become loose. Apparently this is a common issue with watches with this movement.
Other Time-Setting Notes:
The 24 hour indicator hand follows the main hour hand and cannot be independently adjusted.
Do not change the date when the hands are between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.
Replacement Price:
At the time of this post, replacement prices for the PE50 were found online in the range of $2.20 to $4.50 USD.

Replacement Movements:
If you’re trying to figure out which caliber is interchangeable with the PE50, so is Caliber Corner. At this time, it is unconfirmed and the best way to know is to actually do the swap. If you have successfully swapped the movement in a PE50 watch with a different calibre, please comment below.
