Movado Caliber 377

The Movado caliber 377 is a vintage mechanical hand-wound watch movement. This “tank” shape rectangular caliber is Swiss made with 17 jewels. It was produced in the 1940s.

This movement is signed with the following text:

Movado Factories / Swiss / Unadjusted / Seventeen 17 Jewels / 377

Note: although this example is unadjusted, you may find similar movements that are adjusted in two positions. If so, it will be marked with: “ADJ. 2 TWO POS”

Calibre Number Location:

The caliber number is not easy to see on this movement. It is located under the balance wheel, towards the crown, under the balance bridge and crown wheel. There is a “377” encircled in an oval outline.

Movado Caliber 377 VS 375:

There is a similar cal. 375 with the main difference being that the 377 being discussed on this page has a central seconds hand and the 375 has a small seconds subdial at 6:00. The 377 may have a jeweled center wheel bearing, while the 375 does not. The 375 appears to be more common than the 377.

A note about the image above: The picture is of this Movado caliber 375. Although there is documentation (specifically a parts list) that identifies the existence of the 377 with central seconds, one has yet to be located. If you have one, or access to one, please send a picture for the post.
