The Raymond Weil caliber RW5030 is an automatic chronograph movement. It is basically a Sellita cal. SW510 with a custom branded rotor.
In the brand’s own words:
“At the heart of the new freelancer Chronograph 7741 sits the new Calibre RW5030. Visible through the exhibition case back, this automatic movement has a power reserve of 62 hours.”
Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
Caliber Confusion:
Rather than avoid caliber confusion by simply creating a new caliber number, Raymond Weil is using the RW5030 moniker to label tri-compax (three subdials) and bi-compax (two subdials) chronograph models in their collection.
The tri-compax version of this caliber is found in various Freelancer Automatic Chronograph models introduced in June 2022.
Bi-compax versions of this caliber are found in the Freelancer Pop Bi-Compax Chronograph (released 7/2023) and the Raymond Weil X BASQUIAT Freelancer (released 10/2023).
When describing the bi-compax usage, the brand states a power reserve of 56 hours:
“The watch houses the caliber RW5030 movement, a mechanical bi-compax chronograph with automatic winding offering a 56-hour power reserve.” –Source
With the tri-compax models they state 62 hours (source: Freelance Chronograph technical data).
Sellita states 56-65 hours for the SW510.
Rotor Text:
RAYMOND WEIL / GENEVE / Caliber RW 5030
The brand’s official description refers to this calibre as “RW5030”, however, on the rotor in the stock photo it is written as “RW 5030” with a space.
No-Date:
While the Raymond Weil watches with the RW5030 do not have a date display on the dial, it is still unconfirmed whether they are using the date or true no-date versions of the SW510.
- SW510 a – date at 4:30
- SW510 b – true no-date
Caliber Corner will reach out to Raymond Weil for more information. In the meantime, if you have an RW5030 powered Freelanceer Chronograph, please comment below as to whether your watch has a phantom date position or not.
Grade:
The SW510 ebauche is available in 3 grades: Elabore, Top, Chronometer.
On their website, Raymond Weil is not transparent about what grade the RW5030 is using. With many Sellita movements, the anti-shock device (Novodiac or Incabloc) can at least help differentiate between elabore and top/chronometer, but with the SW510, all models are equipped with Incabloc. It really comes down to the factory testing/regulation.
- Elabore is tested in 3 positions, regulated to an average accuracy of +/-5 seconds per day.
- Top and Chronometer are tested in 5 positions.
- Top has an average accuracy of +/-4 seconds. Chronometer is regulated to COSC spec.

Different finishes of the sW510 are also available and do not necessarily have direct impact of the grade.
The RW5030 appears to be somewhere between a D4 and tailor-made (TAI) – which is the maximum decoration with blued screws, perlage and striping, as well as a custom rotor.
