The Audemars Piguet caliber 4302 is a 3-hander automatic movement with a date. This calibre was originally introduced in 2009, and is regarded as an update to the AP 3120 from circa 2003.
The 4302 is still found in watches that were announced as recently as 2/25/25 – such as the new 41mm Code 11.59 (Ref: 15210ST).
AP described the 4302 as:
“The simple hour, minute, centre second and date movement launched in 2019.” –Source
Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
Rotor Designs:
You may find examples of the 4302 with different rotor designs depending on the models. Unfortunately, despite their prices, Audemars Piguet rarely shows caseback or movement image on their official website.
AP 4302 VS 4309:
There is a similar caliber 4309 with the main difference being that the 4302 being discussed here has a date calendar complication, whereas the 4309 is a true no-date.
Something worth noting is that these calibers are so similar that Audemars Piguet’s official site shows an image of the 4302 next to specs for the 4309 (source):
The lack of a calendar system on the 4309 results in a reduced number of total components, bringing the count to 225 VS 257 in the 4302.
If AP touts the simplicity as a defining characteristic of the 4302, the 4309 takes it even further.
