The Shinola Argonite 1069 is assembled in USA with parts manufactured in Switzerland. The movement is based on Ronda’s caliber 1069.
Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
Jewel Count:
According to the Ronda website, there are two versions of this movement: a Swiss parts version with 2 jewels and nickel plated finish, and a 6 jewel version with gold plated finish. Interestingly, the Shinola version which is made with Swiss parts, but not Swiss made, has 6 jewels.
Battery Cell:
As Bruce pointed out in the comments below, the chart above shows that this movement can take a 321 watch battery, but the photos of the actual movement show a 364/363 battery. The 321 is a standard battery. The 364 is a high capacity battery. The 321 should get you around 25 months, whereas the 364 can stretch the lifespan out to 34 months. Typically, most brands just put a 321 in the base Ronda 1069 movement, but it appears that Shinola went with the longer lasting 364/363.
Replacement Value:
Replacement prices for the Ronda 1069 base movement were found in the range of $12.95 – $18.95
