Breitling caliber 70 (B70) is a very small, rectangular 2-hander quartz movement found in some classic (vintage) Breitling UTC modules (small timepieces built into the strap of some models such as the Chronomat, used to track a second timezone on a non-GMT watch).
It appears that there are no Breitling markings on the movement itself, although Breitling writes “Calibre B70” on the decorated cover between the movement and caseback on the UTC module.
This caliber is not to be confused with the newer ana-digi Breitling B70 manufacture movement – talk about creating caliber confusion.
Battery Replacement:
There is one screw holding the battery cover in place.
Carefully remove the screw and the battery cover. The replacement battery is a silver oxide cell number 317 (aka SR516SW).
Buy batteries here… your purchase supports this site.
Make sure the orange insulation tab is intact and in place under the metal prong before putting the new battery in.
Base Caliber:
Breitling calls this UTC movement their cal. 70, however, this movement is actually a Swiss made Ronda caliber 732. The 732 has been discontinued, but you can safely use the updated and compatible Ronda cal. 1032. Just be sure to get a Swiss Made one to match the OEM gold tone (the Swiss Parts is nickle/silver).
Replacement Prices:
At the time of this post, the 732 was found online with prices in the $24.95 USD range.
