The spring-drive has no escapement like a traditional mechanical movement, it has a small flywheel that smoothly rotates at 6 rpm and is regulated by an electromagnetic field break. The only thing in the watch that actually vibrates is a quartz crystal, the quartz oscillator vibrates at exactly 32,786 Hz which in terms of VBH would be (118,029,600) VBH

I think what Dan is trying to say is (VPH = none) : Unlike any “hi-beat” or 36,000 VPH watch, the Seiko Spring Drive duplicates the natural constant passage of time. Forward. Any watch that hammers the second hand forward at any number of times per second is a poor imitation of time. 18,000 = five hammerings of the second hand per second. 19,800 = 5.5 . 21600 = 6 . 28,800 = 8 second hand ticks per second. 36,000 “hi-beat” movements the second hand is still being hammered around the dial, albeit at ten times per second. Meant the flywheel spins and its speed is sampled 8 times a second, this is counted by a microchip and compared with the quartz, which then regulates an electromechanical field to allow the wheel to spin faster or slower.
