Angelus caliber A5000 is a handwound monopoussoir chronograph movement. This movement is produced for Angelus by La Joux-Perret, and appears to be based on LJP’s cal. LJP5000-4.
Instrument de Vitesse:
The A5000 is found in the brand’s Instrument de Vitesse line of limited edition watches (25 pieces of each color available worldwide).
Because of the nature of a monopusher chronograph having a stop/stop button integrated into the crown, watches with this complication do not have chronograph pushers above and below the crown. This makes monopusher watches appear to be regular non-chrono, 3-hander watches from across the room, until one gets close enough to notice subdials.
The Instrument de Vitesse, however, takes this minimalist approach one step further by eliminating subdials altogether. This stripped down functionality turns the watch into a one-minute chronograph – and with the Base 1000 scale on the dial, it becomes a doctor’s watch aka pulsometer. A pulsometer style watch is exactly as it sounds: a timepiece with a stopwatch complication combined with a pulsometer scale, which can be used to determine a person’s pulse rate.
