This example of the Seiko caliber 9F62A was found in a Grand Seiko model SBGX059.

There is also a caliber 9F61 that is basically the same with exception to the calendar feature.

This quartz movement is thermocompensated and adjusts for temperature variations.

A $5000.00 Stainless steel Quartz watch with no date is LUNACY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess there is more than one sucker born every day.

It’s more like $1,700 for a watch with the premier quartz movement, finished just as well or better than others at the same price, and many of those have an ETA 2824 movement that can be had for well under $200. Yes, an automatic has more soul, but some value cold precision (+/- 20 sec a year) over soul at +/- 10 sec a day.

Thank you for your response. I just checked. I can buy a quartz movement that has the same functions as an ETA 2824 for under $30.00 for one. Probably buy them for half that much in bulk. Also, for a quartz movement that has the same functions as my Valjoux 7751……$40.00. So in my opinion, there isn’t a quartz watch out there worth anything over $100.00 unless it has a 14K or 18K case. What is annoying about someone like you is that you act like you are being smart while displaying a complete lack of logic- i.e. it is somehow smart to place more value on something that is less accurate and less reliable, and somehow dumb to place value on something that is more accurate and reliable. Look- I love mechanical watches too. But there is no soul in a watch movement, mechanical or whatever. Says a person who spend thousands on buying Swiss mechanical which houses decorated “in house” ETA 2824s. Did you realise ETA 2824s are very ordinary mechanical movements? Even with COSC parameters, they are still ordinary yet OVERPRICED. Yes the Rolex you love = worse yet fatter profit margin and the history is not even on par to those old prestigious class.

This movement is hand built by 2 master watchmakers and takes quartz technology to the extreme. This is no ordinary mass produced quartz. It is serviceable and I have read elsewhere that, apart from battery replacement, it won’t need servicing for 50 years. The quartz crystal is grown and aged in-house and only the most stable are selected for use, and even then the characteristics of the individual crystal are programmed into the circuitry to compensate for any errors! You’re probably right! My SBGV003 (F82A) works without any adjustment or maintenance since 1996 !! (except when the battery was replaced)…most probably I should go to a watchmaker at least to look at it! I admit that it was expensive enough as to cancel my holiday for that year.
