The Panerai caliber P.6000 is a manual-wind mechanical watch movement with 19 jewels and a beat rate of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). It has a single barrel, offering a power reserve of up to 3 days. This Swiss made caliber was introduced in 2018 in an effort to replace the brand’s use of now unavailable ETA 6497 and 6498 movements.
Unlike many popular handwound movements, the P6000 is equipped with a hacking mechanism to stop the seconds when the crown is pulled out to setting position, allowing for more accurate time setting.
Is it an in-house calibre? Yes. As Panerai states: “Completely created by Panerai’s high quality watchmaking Manufacture in Neuchâtel”.
Measurements: 15.5”’ x 4.5mm thick.
Panerai also states that it takes 110 components to produce a P.6000 movement.
Watches with the cal. P.6000 include the Luminor Logo 44mm (ref: PAM00777) and the Luminor Base Logo 44mm (ref: PAM00775). Both of these watches have a solid back and do not show off the P.6000 movement within.
