Replacing the battery:
The caseback of the watch this movement was found in states that the battery cell is number 52. That is the Renata brand battery number. The numbers on the battery strap (6,8 / H 1,4) indicate a diameter of 6.80mm and a height of 1.4mm (although the actual height of the 52 battery is 1.45mm). Corresponding batteries from other brands are: 339, SR614SW, S58, SR614SW, and V339.
Replacement Prices:
The 297.001 has been discontinued and was replaced with ETA caliber 976.001. Prices for the 976.001 were found online in the range of $59.00 – $79.00 USD.
