This is movement is a certified chronometer (by COSC). Most, but not all of the cal. 8 movements feature Côtes de Genève decorating on the rotor, which is also engraved with TAG Heuer / Calibre 8 / Swiss Made.

In TAG’s own words:

“All TAG Heuer automatic movements are made in Switzerland and must meet extremely strict criteria for precision before they make it onto your wrist. Their high frequency ensures excellent mechanical precision. A number of TAG Heuer automatic movements are awarded an Official Swiss Chronometer Control (C.O.S.C.) Certificate, the ultimate recognition of precision and reliability.”

Discontinued Caliber:

At the time of this post, the official TAG Heuer website no longer has any watches with the TH8 listed in their online catalog. Watches such as this Carrera (ref: MM0309 / WAR5010.BA0723) are listed as discontinued. You may still be able to find new old stock timepieces from ADs or you could certainly find pre-owned watches with this movement.
