The 24 hour subdial at 9:00 serves as a day/night indicator or military time. The hand is not set independently – it follows the main hours hand.
Gilt Version:
There is a gilt (gold tone) version referred to as “82S3 Gilt”. Most brands using the gilt version will simply call it an 82S3. The only difference between the two is the color of the movement.
Accuracy Rating:
According to Miyota, the average accuracy of the 82S3 is -20 to +40 seconds per day, when operating under normal conditions.
When testing for accuracy of your timing machine, the correct lift angle is 49 degrees.
