The Sellita SW330-1 is an automatic watch movement with a second time zone display via a centrally located GMT hand. This movement was introduced to the market in 2015.

Sellita Caliber Sw330 1 Drawings

Sellita SW330-1 VS ETA 2893-2:

While the components are not 100% interchangeable, the caliber SW 330-1 is essentially a clone of the ETA 2893-2. In fact, these movements are so similar that brands will often use them interchangeably and not disclose which one you are getting beforehand. If the brand lists both calibers and you prefer one over the other, be sure to make the request when ordering your watch new from the manufacturer.

Dimensions, beat rate and power reserve are among the many similarities, but one notable difference is the jewel count. The SW330-1 has 25 jewels and the ETA 2893-1 has 21 jewels.

Here is an image comparing the two movements:

Sellita Sw330 1 Vs Eta 2893 2

3 Grades and Accuracy:

There are 3 grades of the Sellita cal. SW330-1. The grades and main differences are as follows:

  • Spécial (Elabore) – Nickel balance wheel, adjusted in 4 positions, average rate of +/-5 seconds/day, maximum deviation of 20 seconds/day in all positions, isochronism of +/-15 seconds/day.
  • Prémium (Top) – Glucydur balance wheel, adjusted in 5 positions, average rate of +/-4 seconds/day, maximum deviation of 15 seconds/day in all positions, isochronism of +/-10 seconds/day.
  • Chronomètre (COSC) – Glucydur balance wheel, COSC criteria

To sum it up, the Premium grade will give you better timekeeping and a more refined look than the Special grade. You can learn more about Sellita grading here.

Interesting note: This may not be interpreted correctly, but Sellita seems to mention in the official documentation that when a lot of movements are purchased, only 95% of them must be within the specified limited.

Finishing:

There are two main finishes from the factory: Standard and Refined. There is an option for custom or tailor-made finishing as well.

Sellita Caliber Sw330 1 Finishes

Crown Positions:

  • 1 – Manual winding
  • 2- Quick adjustment of the date, quick adjustment of the GMT hand
  • 3 – Time setting, hacked seconds

Removing the crown and stem:

With the crown in time setting position, gently place a 1mm screw driver in the setting lever slot to press the detent button. Do not use tweezers unless you want to risk messing up the setting lever.

Replacement Prices:

At the time of this post, replacement prices for the calibre SW330-1 were found online for around $480.00 USD.

Sellita SW330-1 VS SW330-2:

See the SW330-2 post here for more information about this.

I just bought the Gevril Wall Street GMT 4953B at an amazing Price. Which makes me wonder if it is a good Watch. It lists for $4195 and I got it for $799 Is it an accurate time piece and is it a true GMT?

I paid the same. You can’t tell it isn’t a Rolex batman unless you look closely and its still a real Swiss GMT automatic. It has a quality movement although not chronometer grade. I would be interested to know what grade of movement was used in these watches. So far so good. This watch has been getting a lot of wrist time. Love it so far.

Gevril was my very first automatic brand when I started collecting, and it’s one of the most underrated brands out there in my opinion. Gevril started making watches in 1758 and they created their first Chronometer in 1742. In 1744 they designed their first Repetition Dial and in 1758; Jacques Gevril became the first exporter of Swiss Watches when he was named Watchmaker to the King of Spain. That is to me a very impressive history, compared to brands that are both bigger and more expensive, while not having that kind of history behind it

This movement is not a ‘True GMT’ with independent hour hand like found in Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko and some very few others (including some quartz movements from Casio and Seiko). It’s a “Caller GMT” or “Office GMT” as some call.

Really nice stainless watch, with ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal. Nice stainless bracelet too. The SW330 is used in a number of high end watches. Watch snobs put it down because it looks too much like a Rolex GMT Master. Keep in mind the number of watches that you can’t distinguish from a Datejust at three feet.

I have a Farer Charleton with this movement in it. Very accurate so far (less than a second a day). The Farer Maze and Crooms also have this movement.

Does anyone have any idea on how to remove the rotor? I’ve got a watch with this movement, which has got 0.8 ms beat error and is running -20 seconds per day on average. I’ve played with the regulator and moved it towards the “+” direction, however I’ve noticed that after a certain point, instead of making the movement run faster, it actually starts making it run slower. So I was thinking that it might be worthwhile playing with the beat error, to see if that helps, but I need to remove the rotor to get to the beat error… Read more »

Can someone that knows about the accuracy of these movements please comment. The accuracy of the elabore version is stated above to be +/-5spd with a maximum deviation of 20spd in all positions. Does the average of +/-5spd mean that it should, over the period of 24 hours average +/-5spd. Mine varies over a week of monitoring from -15spd to +11spd, but averaging the daily plus and minus actually averaged -3spd for the week. The point is that, on any given day, I don’t know if it’s going to be 15 seconds slow or 11 seconds fast. Picky I know.
