The Orient Star caliber 40S62 is an automatic watch movement with an open (aka open-heart or skeletonized) balance wheel and a power reserve indicator. This movement is found in the Orient Star Modern Skeleton watches that were introduced in 2014 (discontinued as of this post).
Orient Star officially refers to watches with this movement as: “Mechanical Watch, Power Reserve Indicator, Automatic & Hand Winding Mechanism”.
40S62 VS F6F44:
The calibre F6F44 is considered to be an upgrade to the 40S62. Aside from an updated skeletonized balance wheel porthole on the dial, there is also an increase in power reserve:
- 40S62: ~40 hours
- F6F44: ~50 hours
