ESA caliber 944.111 is a vintage electronic movement with 7 jewels. It was part of ESA’s “Superflat” family of quartz movements.
In ESA’s own words:
“Electronic movement with quartz resonator, sweep second with hand jumping each second, with or without date or date and bilingual day indicator, date corrector, rotary stepping motor, stop second device, frequency 32’768 Hz.” -ESA/EEM tech sheet
Replacement Movements:
The 944.111 has long been discontinued. You can try to replace it with an ETA caliber 450.111 or any of the other ETAs with similar dimensions and functionality. If you try a different caliber for replacement, please discuss it in the comments below.
944.1111 VS 944.101:
There is a similar calibre 944.101 which is the no-date version in this series.
944.111 VS 944.121:
Also in the same 944.XXX family is a calibre 944.121 with a day date complication at 3:00. The 944.111 only has a date. Also worth noting, the 944.111 is 3.1mm thick, whereas the 944.121 is 3.8mm.
