Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
157 VS 057:
This movement is also similar to the Ebel caliber 057, with the main difference being that the 157 is round and the caliber 057 is an oval/tonneau shape.
Replacement Prices:
At the time of this post, replacement movements were found online priced as high as $378.78. Although it can be difficult to find full working movements, parts and broken movements for parts/repair are readily available. If you cannot find what you need by searching for “Ebel 157”, try “Cartier 157”.
Ebel X Cartier:
You may find that Cartier also uses the same movement in many of their ladies models. This is because Ebel and Cartier were part of a joint venture known as Compagnie Ebel Cartier (CEC), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Since 1972, Ebel had been producing watches for Cartier until the two companies formed CEC in 1992. Despite the high quality finishing compared to other quartz, they were produced with cost efficiency in mind and not as High Accuracy Quartz (HAQ) calibers.
