The Dandong/Liaoning Peacock caliber SL-3034 is a 28 jewels automatic movement with a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 beats per hour). The manufacturer (Liaoning Peacock Watch Co., based in Zhenxing District, Dandong, Liaoning Province, China) considers this caliber to be part of their “SL3 Premium” line of movements. The finishing features damaskeening (stripes) on the rotor with perlage finish on top of the plates.
The notable feature of the SL-3034 is that it has a day/date calendar complication. The day of the week is display at 12:00 with the day fully spelled out. This style is similar to Rolex President Day-Date watches, which is why you will mainly find the SL-3034 in Day-Date “homage” watches.
Official documentation dates this movement as being available since at least March 2024.
Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
Caliber Number:
You may have seen this calibre written as the SL3034 or SL-3034. The manufacturer spells it at SL-3034 in their marketing materials, but tech drawings were found with references to SL3034 without a hyphen. Also, SL3034-0003 seems to be the official number.
The SL-3034 is essentially an ETA clone. The “34” in SL-3034 comes from the caliber this movement is based on: ETA 2834-2.
As for caliber number engravings on the movement, there do not appear to be any markings with the number – this is common for made in China movements, contributing greatly to caliber confusion in the community.
SL-3034 VS SL-3001:
The caliber SL-3034 is based on the SL-3001. The main difference is that the SL-3034 being discussed on this page is a day/date and the SL-3001 just has a date.
A Note About Diameter:
The manufacturer states that the diameter of the SL-3034 is 29.3mm, however, in their stock photos they show a movement with a plastic spacer around it. This may be used to accommodate a larger dial. It should be noted that the actual diameter of the movement is most likely going to be 11.5”’ or 25.6mm (26mm), as with the ETA 2834-2 framework this caliber is based on.
