The Carl F. Bucherer caliber CFB A2050 is an automatic movement with a small seconds subdial and date. This movement was introduced at Baselworld 2016.
In the brand’s own words:
“Specially for the Manero Peripheral, the engineers modified the movement to create the CFB A2050 with a central hour and minute display, small seconds at 6 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock.”
Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:
A2050 VS A2000:
You may notice that this caliber is signed with “A2000”, as this is intended to be a base series which the brand can configure differently depending on their desired complications for various models. For the A2050, that execution means a small seconds subdial and date calendar complication.
Editor’s Comment: If the watch has a caliber A2050, they should have engraved “A2050”. Signing the movement “A2000” on a watch that is supposed to have a cal. A2050 is surely going to cause caliber confusion. Not to mention calibers that don’t yet exist, say A2060, which presumably will also be signed A2000. *face palm emoji*
Peripheral Technology – Auto That Looks Like a Manual-Wind:
At a quick glance, the A2050 looks like a manual-wind movement. That is thanks to a somewhat hidden rotor that is placed around the movement rather than above it. C.F. Bucherer calls this Peripheral Technology.
With this special layout, there isn’t constantly a rotor obstructing partial view into the rest of the movement.
Recommended Service Intervals:
According to the user manual, Carl F. Bucherer’s recommended service interval for the CFB A2050 is once every four years. The price is vary depending on what is needed, but as of 2024, the cost of a complete overhaul starts at $485 USD for steel models and $595 USD for precious metals.
