The Breitling caliber B13 is essentially a chronometer grade ETA caliber 7750 with Breitling branding on the rotor.
The Breitling 13 was used in a wide range of watches, possibly the most used calibre of the brand (at least during a certain period of time).
Breitling B13 VS B01:
You may see questions and reviews comparing the B13 to Breitling’s in-house caliber B01. Despite the comparisons, the two are not related other than the fact that by introducing their own in-house movement, the brand was able to wean off of their dependence on ETA supplied 7750 movements.
On the dial side of things, the most notable difference is the layout of the subdials. The B13 has a 12-6-9 subdial layout, whereas the B01 has a 3-6-9 layout.
Mechanically, the chronograph systems are different with the B13 using a three-plane cam system and the B01 using a column wheel with a vertical clutch.
You may find that watches with the B13 can be obtained at a lower cost than the B01 models. Beyond that, parts and repair for the B13 is far more accessible since it uses widely available parts, and is serviceable by most experienced watchmakers. In contrast, the B01 would be more difficult to find parts due to availability being limited to watchmakers with a Breitling parts account, technical documentation as well.
