The Miyota caliber 82S7 is from the 8215/821A family but offers a skeletonized dial design. There is also a gilt version available.

Some of the topics covered in this caliber listing:

Accuracy

Miyota claims that the caliber 82S7 offers accuracy of -20 ~ +40 seconds per day. This is measured within 10-60 minutes from a full wind via the crown. To fully wind the movement, turn the crown 40 times in the clockwise direction. The winding direction of the rotor is counterclockwise.

82S7 vs 82S0

A more “minimalist” version of the caliber 82S7 is the caliber 82S0. The 82S0 is basically the same movement but has central seconds instead of the small seconds subdial. The 82S0 also does not have the 24 hour subdial.

82S7 vs 82S5

The caliber 82S7 has the following layout:

  • Small seconds at 5:00
  • Open balance (skeletonized) at 7:00
  • 24 hour (can also be day/night) indicator at 9:00

The caliber 82S5 has the same layout, except it does not have the 24 hour indicator at 9:00.

Note: There is also a caliber 82S0 variation which is the same as the 82S5 but with central seconds instead of small seconds.

Replacement Prices

Replacement prices were found online in the range of $43.00 – $63.95. Click here to buy this movement.

So they use a 60$ movement in a 1500$ watch? that doesn’t sound like a rip off at all…

Just got an Egard V-1 Gent 2nd edition. It has 82S7 but it has hacking unlike the description above. It has sapphire crystal and some nice engraving on the case. Overall very pleased!

I have one in my AVI-8 Blue Nylon XV741 Harrier. It hacks. I think earlier models of this caliber did not hack but the later versions do. Keeps very good time.

Is this movement used in the Bulova Sutton model (no. 96A120)?

I have an earlier 2010’s Bulova 97A103 that uses this movement. This version of the 82S7 doesn’t have a hacking feature but keeps great time nonetheless.

Picked up a Titan Automatic today. (Model: 90034KKA)
India manufacture. Open heart with skeleton caseback. Signed Butterfly clasp. Signed grown.
Sapphire Crystal. Lume on hands.
49.5mm Lug to Lug, 44.5mm case, 14.5mm thick
Definitely a Big-Boy watch. Starburst on inner dial and finer starburst on small seconds and 24-hour complication. Nice gilt: hands, indices, and smooth bezel.
Fun to wear!

In the description it says it is clockwise and in the accuracy it says counterclockwise. Which one is it now? Or do I get it wrong?

no problem, I have an anomaly01 from code41 and was trying to find out in which direction my watch winder has to turn. was already hard to find out which Miyota is built in.
Code 41 said it is bidirectional and now I am confused… it seems a long way to find that out what is right and for how long it can turn without over wind. Do you have any Information about that?
Kind regards
Martin

hello,
I have a Zeppelin Captain’s line 8662-3 watch with this movement. Is it possible to manually over-wind the watch and thereby cause harm to the mechanism?

thank you.
