Miyota caliber 0S10 is a quartz chronograph watch movement with zero jewels. Miyota is owned by Citizen and this movement is made in Japan. The caliber number is often written incorrectly as OS1O or 0510. The Citizen branded version of this movement is 0510.

High Hand Versions

The caliber 0S10 has two high hand versions: 0S1A and 0S1F.

Calendar Locations

The base 0S10 movement has the date window at 3:00. This movement is also available with the date at 4:00, between 4:00 and 5:00, as well as at 6:00. Black and white background date wheel versions are available.

Accuracy Rating

Miyota states the accuracy of the caliber 0s10 quartz movement to be +/-20 seconds/month.

Chronograph

The 0S10 chronograph seconds has a quick reset to zero. Miyota calls this the Heart Cam Reset System.

How to Reset to Zero?

If your 0S10 chronograph hands need calibrated back to zero after a battery change, follow the steps below:

  1. Pull the crown to position III (time setting position)
  2. Press pusher A (the top button) to advance the chronograph hand forward. Long pressing will advance the hand rapidly.
  3. When the hand is at zero or 12:00, push the crown back in.

Replacement Price

Replacement prices for the Miyota caliber 0S10 movement were found in the range of $25.00 – $31.95 USD.

Examples of watches with this movement

The image below is of a Miyota 0S10 found in a Locman Italy Sport chronograph watch. There was no plastic movement holder and the pushers reached from the case to the movement.

Miyota Caliber 0s10 Locman

Here is another example of a caliber 0S10 found in a Skagen watch. Also no movement holder needed and the case was designed so that the pushers can reach the movement buttons to operate the chronograph stopwatch feature.

Seems there is no way to ‘reset’ the chronograph minute ‘sub hand’ or the ‘Hour Sub hand’ (to zero). the only thing that can be RESET is the sweep second hand. this seems strange?? anyone have other info on this?

that is correct. the ONLY hand that can be ‘reset’ to ‘ZERO’ (12 o’clock position) is the Sweep second hand (pull crown out to 2nd position and using button A move hand in clockwise motion until it’s pointing at 12 o’clock). however the ‘SUB DIAL hands” (for chrono minutes and Chrono Hours) cannot be moved and are NOT pointing at the 12 o’clock position. how is this accomplished? the Miyota manual does not provide this instruction. 🙁

Sometimes you can try in different crown positions. So pull it out one click to the date setting position (position 1) and try the top and bottom buttons. If that doesn’t work, try it again in time setting mode (position 2). These directions are more geared towards Ronda movements, but might be worth checking out: https://www.keepthetime.com/blog/how-to-set-an-invicta-chronograph-back-to-zero/

Yes, that is the same conclusion I found. only the sweep second had can be reset (strange). I wonder in the factory how it’s done? that’s what I was looking for the ‘factory’ short cut. maybe shorting some pads on the back of the movement? Not sure. thanks

Instructions from Casio for this caliber (they call it Module 2328) do specify how to reset the hour and minutes on the chronograph.

It is used in the AMW330 and MSY-501 models, amog others. Unfortunately mine seems to be damaged (which is how I found this forum) and I cannot test this.

I found a way to do this without dismantling! At the 2nd crown position, press and hold button A to speed up the Chronograph seconds. Continue holding and the Chronograph minutes will advance…. slowly but surely. Once it reaches 12 (slowly press A for accuracy), press button B to fix the minute hand position, then push the crown back. Try this when the minute hand advances 5minutes first before commuting to hold long hold. Hope this helps someone, cheers.

That is because the hands of the chronograph minutes and hours counters are mechanically controlled through hammers/cams/levers, unlike the chronograph seconds hands which is pure quartz.

These hands have to be manually and correctly fitted from the onset. If they don’t reset to zero position, then they either have become lose or the movement has gone faulty.

Anybody know if there is an automatic movement this size that would take the same hands from the Miyota Caliber No. OS10? I’m curious if I can do a movement swap in a Jack Mason chronograph I have. Does Miyota make an automatic chrono movement? I ask this before I’ve done much digging, so my next step is to start looking for movements with the same dimensions. I’m only looking at Miyota movements because I’m hoping the hand sizes are compatible, but I’ll look into that too. Could be a fun project.

Gentlemen,

the question arose how to ‘reset’ the chronograph minute ‘sub hand’.
OK it´s a while since but the info may be of future interest.

I posted an inquiry directly to Miyota how to accomplish this but did not get any answer yet.

Obviously there is no feature to ‘electrically’ reset the minute sub hand.

Here is the solution that worked for me:
Dismantle the movement from the watch case,
then GENTLY push the minute sub hand to its zero position
(the hand snaps by discrete tick marks).

This procedure applies to the Miyota 0S20 movement as well.

Regards
Martin

Thanks for the info. What did you use to push the sub-dial hand (being careful not to touch the dial)?

All Casio analog watches that show module # 2328 on the case back use the Miyota 0S10 movement
One example is the Casio EF 503D

I figured out how to calibrate the minute hand. It is not so simple as just pressing the ‘B’ button in time-setting mode. You have to press ‘A’ so that the stopwatch seconds hand advances, and then that allows you to press ‘B’ to advance the minute hand. The B button cannot be pressed without pressing A first.

So once you calibrate the minute hand you can adjust the seconds back to 0. If only this was made clear in the instructions for my watch (Casio EF503D).

Ok never mind, that was just a fluke. After fiddling with the buttons the stopwatch minute hand fell off.

I tried to replicate the techinique on my 0S20, without success. After several years I still can’t figure out how to adjust the chonograph minute hand. Only with Martin’s “brute force” idea..

Greetings gentlemen. Life is good but sucks when you cant get your to work 🙂 I need help and i pray i can get some from any of you fine gentlemen. I have a watch that uses Miyota 0510 movement, I managed to remove crown etc but am finding it tough to get the moment out. it seems to be stuck? I try prying it gently at the point where it says “pry Up”. alas, it did not even budge. I’m too afraid to use too much force. Am i doing it wrong? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks… Read more »

Did you get it out? Be careful prying, I did that once and it chipped the edge of the paint on the dial. Luckily it was covered by an internal bezel, but still I wasn’t pleased about it at all. Try to flip the case over on your hand and try to see if the movement falls into your hand. That’s how I usually do it. It needs to be exactly a round circle for it to fit through the hole of the case. That’s why prying doesn’t work unless the watch brand did a shabby job of designing the… Read more »

I broke the white plastic holder in my watch a few years ago. It still does the job to hold the movement in but it has a crack in it and with the crack it’s easier to get out.

These are a the workhorse movement for Miyota. You’ll find them in thousands of watches, from $10 fashion watches to $200+ “sub-lux” monsters. Reliable under normal circumstances, but highly susceptible to becoming magnetized, slowing them to a crawl. Losing five minutes a day on one with a brand new battery… even though the other seven in my stable with the same movement have been within one minute for months. Nothing to write home about, pretty boring but functional. Got one in the 1999 Timex on my wrist right now.

If new battery doesn’t fix it then it probably needs oiled or something junked up the gearing. Does it slow down at a certain time each day and are you running the chronograph? Check the connections too and make sure the battery connection does’t have junk on it.

@Jon and @Erik B., don’t forget about the pliers-short circuiting with quartz chronographs. Oftentimes this is the culprit.

Did you read my comments above? Did it work before the new battery was installed? Did you try a different battery? You can try to use a demagnetizer (not to demagnetize it) but to force the gears to go forward and sometimes that helps if something got gummed up inside.
