What is the difference between caliber 6497-1 and 6497-2?

There are two variations of the ETA/Unitas 6497 including the 6497-1 and 6497-2. The -1 beats at 18,800vph while the -2 beats at 21,600vph. The -2 can be found in watches like Panerai and typically costs more.

The price is a big difference between these two. You can get a 1 for under $150 but good luck getting a 2 for under $300.

Steven is right about the price but not all 6497-2 (most) have a beat of 21,600. I am a watchmaker and having just found this site I have caliber’s from 2 6497 base pan caliber. one beats at 18000vph and the newer is 21600, to do this and do it with the service ideas and lifestyles they want. NOTHING Eta was kept!. The train from the Main spring and lubricant were completely changed over a period of 3 years. -2 has a much smoother sweeping seconds hand. For me I like the -2 better.
